Welcome to the State of California

Cal/EPA Environmental Management System Project
Purpose of the Northern California Working Group

  1. Develop partnerships and serve as a forum to evaluate EMSs focusing on answering if and how EMSs can (a) be used to improve the environment and (b) provide policy makers with new tools to develop policy and regulations.
  2. Identify issues pertaining to EMSs that need to be addressed, suggest (or offer) solutions and if possible, test solutions.
  3. Communicate with other stakeholders and the community at large about this project and what we are testing, including the potential impact it could have on the community and the State.
  4. Try to build consensus by understanding one another’s perspectives.

* This list was consolidated to reflect several related suggestions that were provided at the meeting concerning the purpose of the Northern California Working Group.

Each proposed pilot project has a local and/or regional advisory group to provide input from key interested parties. Members of the local and regional advisory groups are from local, regional and state government (as well as federal where appropriate), non-governmental organizations, academia, and business sectors.
