California Integrated Waste Management Board member Ed Heidig released the following statement today after asking Governor Wilson to withdraw his name prior to his Senate Rules Committee confirmation hearing.

"After hearing from several sources yesterday that my solid rebuttal of all the issues raised had not changed the Senate Rules Committee's decision to deny my appointment to the Integrated Waste Management Board, I asked Governor Wilson to withdraw my nomination.  I feel that it was in the best interest of all parties concerned to spend no further time and effort when the final result was predetermined," Heidig said.

"In my few remaining days on the Waste Board, I will prepare recommendations on how its confusing ex-parte contact tracking system can be overhauled to make clear that all board members are currently complying with both the letter and spirit of the disclosure law.  Such changes would be a positive outcome from what has been a very frustrating and challenging experience," Heidig concluded.
