State Senate Confirms Peter M. Rooney as Secretary, California Environmental Protection Agency

SACRAMENTO -- On Monday, August 24, the Senate considered the nomination of Peter M. Rooney as Secretary for the California Environmental Protection Agency, voting on a unanimous recommendation for confirmation from the Senate Rules Committee.

Mr. Rooney's nomination was considered without opposition on the floor and he was unanimously confirmed.

Rooney served as Acting Secretary since June 1997 and was nominated by Governor Wilson in October 1997. A graduate of Santa Clara University and the Stanford University Law School, he previously served as Undersecretary for the California Environmental Protection Agency.
