SECRETARY HICKOX ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF EDWARD H. FONG AS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR FOR THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY

SACRAMENTO - Recognizing over twenty years experience in the public relations and media fields, much of it as Press Secretary for then Controller Gray Davis, today Secretary Winston H. Hickox announced the appointment of Edward H. Fong as Cal/EPA’s new Director of Communications.

"I am very pleased to have Edd join my team at Cal/EPA, and am confident he will make the transition from CalPERS seamlessly," said Secretary Hickox.

Fong, 50, is the former Public Affairs Manager at the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). He also worked as a broadcast journalist for ten years at KFBK Radio in Sacramento.

A long-time Sacramento resident, Fong and his wife have two children in the Sacramento school system. His wife, Mary Jane Maguire-Fong is a Professor at American River College.
