PATRICIA ZWARTS APPOINTED CAL/EPA ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR LEGISLATION
SACRAMENTO - California Environmental Protection Agency Secretary Winston Hickox today announced the appointment of Patricia Zwarts as assistant secretary for legislation at Cal/EPA.
From December 1994 until her appointment, Zwarts was the director of legislative and external affairs at the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB). Since January 1999, she had been serving as acting legislative director of Cal/EPA. Zwarts previously served a a legislative manager and legislative analyst at CIWMB and the State Water Resources Control Board.
As assistant secretary for legislation, Zwarts oversees the state and federal legislative program of Cal/EPA and the agency's six boards and departments: the Air Resources Board, Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, Integrated Waste Management Board, Department of Pesticide Regulation, Department of Toxic Substances Control, State Water Resources Control Board, and the nine Regional Water Quality Control Boards.
Zwarts graduated with a bachelor's degree in government from California State University, Sacramento.
