Kristin Stauffacher, Deputy Secretary for Legislative AffairsBiography

Kristi Stauffacher was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in September 2011 to serve as Deputy Secretary for Legislative Affairs for the California Environmental Protection Agency. Kristi comes from State Senator Joe Simitian's office where she served as Legislative Director since 2008. Prior to that she was legislative director for State Senator Michael Machado from 2001 to 2008.

Kristi has extensive experience in environmental and legislative issues beginning as a scientific aide for the California Department of Fish and Game and as a water resource assistant for Lake County. She also served as a consultant with the California State Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife, where she analyzed legislation related to parks and wildlife.

Kristi graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Environmental Biology. She received two masters degrees in Environmental Studies and Public Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Kristi lives in Sacramento with her husband and daughter.
