John Blue is the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Manager of Climate Programs. In this role, John leads a team of technical staff providing policy analysis and guidance on issues related to climate change for the Secretary for Environmental Protection and the Climate Action Team.

John has over two decades of experience implementing environmental programs in California. Most recently, he served as a Climate Change Advisor for the CalEPA Office of the Secretary, where he focused on issues related to agriculture, green building, recycling and waste management. Additionally, John led California’s efforts to develop a state-wide inventory of greenhouse gas emissions from all state government operations.

Before joining the CalEPA Office of the Secretary, John worked for 17 years at the California Integrated Waste Management Board on a range of topics, including local waste management planning, economic development, resource management and green building.

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis, and subsequently served three years as a Post Graduate Researcher in the UC Davis Department of Food Science and Technology.
