Archives,1999-2003 Publications: Cal/EPA Agency Wide Environmental Management System

Cal/EPA conducted seven pilot projects to determine whether and how an EMS increases public health and environmental protection and provides better public information than existing regulatory requirements. Voluntary partnerships were established with diverse participants from agriculture, metal finishing, wastewater treatment, computer, defense, beverage production, and office products. Data on changes in environmental performance and regulatory compliance, pollution prevention, and stakeholder involvement were collected and evaluated, as well as information on the types and quality of information available to stakeholders.
